THE PENTITENT'S ROSARY

- living in the time of apparitions -

The definition of "Penitent" is:

"a person who repents of sin".

Synonyms are:

apologetic, contrite, regretful, remorseful, repentant or sorry.

We asked ourselves:

  • How can we honour Our Lord for one simple hour per day?
  • Can we pray the Rosary for one hour a day
and use the Mysteries as our 15 minutes meditation?
  • Can our Rosary become a "Holy Hour" to be close in contact with Our Lady and Our Lord?

The Step-by-Step Rosary follows our developed format;

the way the Pearls “converge upon the Crucifix,

which both opens and closes the unfolding sequence of prayer."

Our Lady of Fatima said to the children; pray the Rosary every day and

"Pray the rosary for peace and an end to the war."

.

Our Lady of Akita said in 1973; "Each day recite the prayers of the Rosary.

The interesting 15 minutes:

Ven. Fulton J. Sheen said:

"I am proposing to you, one daily continuous hour in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament. ... no 15 minute visits adding up to an hour ... For the laity I am recommending to you 15 minutes a day and it need not be spent in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament, you may make it at home reading the gospels. ... and if you have not great responsibilities, then do the hour, as many lay people are doing."

Our Lord asked for it (Matt 26:40-41):

“So you had not strength to watch with me one hour? Watch and pray that you enter not into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

Our Lady asked for it (apparition Dec 10, 1925):

"I promise to assist at the hour of death, with the graces necessary for salvation, all those who, on the first Saturday of five consecutive months, shall confess, receive Holy Communion, recite five decades of the rosary, and keep me company for 15 minutes while meditating on the 15 mysteries of the rosary, with the intention of making reparation to me."

- Our Rosary prayers are longer than 15-20 minutes -

simply because we add on prepatory prayers to commence our focus before the actual Rosary.

We confess that we are sinners through the Act of Contrition and we repent.

Then, hopefully, our call to the angels to bring our prayers to the Lord will be more successful.

We offer important prayers at the end to truly show the angels we call upon them

with the final touch of the prayer to our Guardian Angel.

The final touch is the Litany to Loreto.

All prayers are existing prayers, not our own invented prayers!

Our Lady of Akita and apparitions

We believe that we are living right now in the messages from Our Lady of Akita.

The first message came from her Guardian Angel in July 6, 1973. It is here the

consecration to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus prayer changes to include the word given by Our Lady: "TRULY". The Penitent's Rosary, like all Step-by-Step rosary in our community, will include this prayer.

The apparition also stated:

"pray very much for the Pope, bishops and priests . . .

The second message of Our Lady came on August 3, 1973, a First Friday,

when the heavenly voice from the statue warned:

"Prayer, penance and courageous sacrifices can soften the Father's anger"

obedience is the foundation

Our Lady of Akita said to Sister Agnes in 1973:

"The work of the devil will infiltrate even into the Church in such a way that one will see cardinals opposing cardinals, bishops against other bishops. The priests who venerate me will be scorned and opposed by their confreres, churches and altars will be sacked.

The Church will be full of those who accept compromises and the devil will press many priests and consecrated souls to leave the service of the Lord. The demon would be especially implacable against souls consecrated to God. The thought of the loss of so many souls is the cause of my sadness. If sins increase in number and gravity, there will be no longer any pardon for them."

It will be a punishment greater than the Flood, such as one will never have seen before. Fire will fall from the sky and will wipe out a great part of humanity, the good as well as the bad, sparing neither priests nor faithful. The survivors will find themselves so desolate that they will envy the dead. The only arms which will remain for you will be the Rosary and the Sign left by my Son. Each day recite the prayers of the Rosary. With the Rosary pray for the Pope, the bishops and the priests."

We believe that we may be right at the final point of "churches and altars will be sacked". It has already happened in some places... . All the previous points are fulfilled!

Our Lady of Fatima stated at her third apparition on July 13, 1917:

"When you pray the Rosary, say after each mystery:

“O my Jesus, forgive us, save us from the fire of hell. Lead all souls to Heaven, especially those who are most in need.”"

Hence, we place the repentance prayer "O my Jesus... " right after the actual Mystery - and Not after Glory Be... which is common practise.

It may seem strange when you are used to pray it after the Glory Be... and we personally have no problems if the user prays the O my Jesus after the Glory be which is still "after the mystery".

We just follow the message from Our Lady.

Pope Paul VI writes in his Marialis Cultus, 1974 (about Our Father, Ave Maria and Glory be):

"The Lord's Prayer, or Our Father, ...is at the basis of Christian prayer ... The litany-like succession of teh Hail Mary, which is made up of the angel's greeting to the Virgin and of Elizabeth's greeting ... The doxology Glory be to the Father which, in conformity with an orientation common to Christian piety concludes the prayer with the glorifying of God". ... These are the elements of the Rosary.

It is interesting that there is no mention of the apparitions of Fatima and the "Fatima prayer" in an apostolic exhortation concerning a devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Rosary is mentioned 52 times.

.................

The Pentitent's Rosary offers an optional ending; praying the Litany of Loreto.

This was instituted by the request from Pope Leo XIII, in his Supremi Apostolatus Officio of September 1883: "From the first day of next October, therefore, until the second day of the November following, in every parish and, if the ecclesiastical authority deem it opportune and of use, in every chapel dedicated to the Blessed Virgin - let five decades of the Rosary be recited with the addition of the Litany of Loreto."

and Superiore Anno in August 1884 (five decades at least of the Rosary be recited, together with the Litany).

Pope Leo XIII wrote in his Iucunda Semper Expectatione in 1894:

"For as the disastrous condition of the Church and of Society

proved to Us the extreme necessity for signal aid from God,

it was manifest to Us that aid should be sought through the intercession of His Mother,

and by the express means of the Rosary,

which Christians have ever found to be of marvellous avail.

This indeed has been well proved since the very institution of the devotion,

both in the vindication of Holy Faith against the furious attacks of heresy,

and in restoring to honour the virtues, which by reason of the Age's corruption,

required to be rekindled and sustained. "
